Drugs


Substance that is used with the intention of acting on the nervous system in order to enhance physical or intellectual development, to alter the mood or to experience new sensations, and whose repeated consumption can create dependence or may have unwanted side effects.

Amphetamines:
Amphetamines are stimulant drugs. They cause communication between the brain and the body to accelerate. As a result, you are more alert and physically active. Some people use amphetamines to stay awake at work or to study for an exam. Others use them to improve their sports performance.

Amphetamines also cause the brain to release dopamine. Dopamine is a chemical related to mood, thinking and movement. It is also known as the brain chemical linked to feeling good. Therefore, using amphetamines can cause pleasant effects such as:

  • Joy (euphoria, flash or rush) and decreased inhibitions, similar to being drunk
  • The feeling that the thoughts are extremely clear
  • Feeling of being more in control, confident
  • Want to live and talk with people (more sociable)
  • Energy boost

Marijuana:
Also known as “pot”, “weed”, “grass” ("mota", "hierba", “pasto”, "porro", "cacho", "peta") is a mixture of green, brown or gray of crushed leaves, stems, seeds and dried flowers.

Cocaine:

Cocaine is usually sold on the street in the form of a white, fine, crystalline powder that is known in Spanish as "coca", "nieve", "dama blanca", or "talco". Some of their names in English are "coke", "C", "snow", "flake" and "blow". Traffickers generally mix cocaine with other inert substances, such as cornstarch, talc or sugar; or with certain active drugs such as procaine (a local anesthetic of similar chemical composition) or other stimulants, such as amphetamines. Some consumers combine cocaine with heroin in what they usually call a "speedball".

Symptoms

  • Distortions of time, depth, space, size and shape
  • Hallucinations of things that do not exist or that fixed elements are moving - in most cases, the person is aware of the unreality of these effects, but in situations where this is not true, injuries or death can occur
  • Sexual inappetence
  • A mixed sensory experience, in other words, "listen to colors" or "see the music"
  • Intensification of the senses of the ear, touch or sight - visual hallucinations can range from intensifying colors or flashes of light to moving geometric patterns or other patterns that can be seen with eyes open or closed
  • The feeling that a person has left their body or that their body has changed shape

Heroin:
Heroin is a highly addictive illegal drug that is processed from morphine, a substance that occurs naturally and is extracted from certain poppy plants. It is usually sold in the form of white or brown powder that is "cut" with sugars, starch, powdered milk or quinine. Pure heroin is a white powder with a bitter taste that can be used in its solid powder form or in its injectable liquid form.

Symptoms:

  • Warm redness of the skin, dry mouth and a feeling of heaviness in the extremities.
  • Nausea, vomiting and severe itching may also occur.
  • After the initial effects, the person usually feels sleepy or sleepy for several hours and their mental functions are cloudy; Cardiac function slows down and breathing rate is also greatly reduced.

Ecstasy:
Whoever consumes MDMA better known as ecstasy or in the colloquial jargon "molly" can experience the heady effects of the drug about 45 minutes after taking a single dose. These effects include an intensified sense of well-being. Its chemical composition is equal to that of stimulants, hallucinogens, and generates a feeling of increased energy and pleasure.

Symptoms:

  • Dry mouth, muscular tension, involuntary movements of the jaw, nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, tremor and increased pressure are other alterations that can cause ecstasy.
  • When these sensations disappear, symptoms of fatigue, depression may appear.

Warning Signs
